Intern License Verification and/or Transfer of California Intern Hours

Upon request the California State Board of Pharmacy will verify your intern pharmacist license and will transfer California intern hours for applicants or licensees as identified below.  

Fee: The fee to process each request for verification is $30. 

Make checks or money orders payable to California State Board of Pharmacy. The processing fee is non-refundable.

Transfer of Intern Hours: The board will only transfer intern hours completed in California submitted on the Intern Hours Affidavit form (17A-29) on file for applicants or licensees that graduated from a foreign pharmacy school or graduated prior to January 1, 2016 from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or school of pharmacy recognized by the board.

  • Effective January 1, 2016, an applicant for the pharmacist examination who has graduated on or after January 1, 2016 from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or school of pharmacy recognized by the board shall be deemed to have satisfied the pharmacy practice experience requirements and are no longer required to submit documentation of the 1,500 intern hours.
  • An applicant for the pharmacist examination who has graduated from a foreign pharmacy school and submitted a copy of his/her FPGEC certificate or who has graduated from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or school of pharmacy recognized by the board prior to January 1, 2016, must complete and provide documentation of 1,500 hours of pharmacy practice experience as an intern pharmacist.

Processing Time:

  • The board processes these requests in the order received.
  • The processing time is 30 days from receipt of request and payment.

Information to Include With Request:

  • Identify the applicant or licensee’s name and intern license number.
  • Include the name of the ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or school of pharmacy and graduation date or indicate if graduated from a foreign pharmacy school.
  • Address where the verification should be mailed.
  • Multiple verifications can be requested with one letter and full payment can be made with one check ($30 for each verification).
